I could feel tears in my eyes as I read this. Since the shutdown (and reopening), life has truly been LIFIN' and for the longest I felt I lost my spark. I went from business owner to solopreneur, and most recently job hopper. Not knowing what to do, where to live, or who to hang out with. (The close connections lived far, and those nearby didn't share the same interests anymore.) I generally felt lost... until a couple days ago. Which is why I could cry while reading your entry -- because it's still such a moment in my life! The lost of creativity and the finding it again through distance and a new space. I've been out of my hometown on a pet sitter venture and it's allowed a lot of "me" time. I sit, sip coffee, walk around, hang with the dogs, and think. Allowing the "What's next?" to manifest. It's wild what a change of scenery can do. Many blessings to you and others on a similar journey.

Fenn, I got literal chicken-skin chills reading this piece, and I'm sitting outside in 82 degree weather! You have nurtured my autistically burned out soul with your words. I'm on the upswing of my burn out, reclaiming my softness, my divine feminine soul, and my creativity. I'm also a writer and have known it my entire life but stopped writing or expressing my creativity when I became what Julia Cameron calls a "shadow artist" and thought that would be enough. It was not. Thank you for being "my people" and expressing your creative self. Looking forward to reading more. Cheers!

I really resonated with this. Differently of course with my own story and experiences but the process of rebuilding from what feels like empty space, looking for the big things to happen… when the small things , like a new café, are where the shifts start to happen 🔆

"Definitely the nail in the coffin of my creative dreams was the dramatic skill loss that accompanied my AuDHD diagnosis and subsequent burnout. I watched the thing that had mattered most to me my entire life slip through my fingers like so much sand, leaving nothing in my hands but a gritty emptiness."

I had a similar experience (sans broken ankle) at around the same time, and feeling like I was losing access to my creativity is one of the most terrifying things I've ever been through. I'm so, so happy for you that you aren't in that place anymore (literally and figuratively).
